Snodgrass

Have to hand it to him.
Joined and expected to replace one of the best players we've had in recent years.
Played out of position.
Slated by the fans, many on here saying the worst player to ever wear the shirt.
Shipped off to Villa
slated by the owners in the press
Never complains,
Gets head down and starting to look like he was money well spent
really like him, grafter.
Anyone here admit to chowing down on humble pie?

You forgot to mention that he can also take a corner a thousand times better than our £40m magician.

You'll probably find loads of humble pie on the last Snodgrass thread, or the one before that ;-)

You could clearly see on Saturday the general consensus with the fans is they love him and his application, he clearly gets that and responds in kind
Every time he took a corner the fans rose to him and I like that, we have a reborn player on our hands and its great to see

He fought hard to get the ball and pass to Anderson that lead to the last goal

His biggest problem wasn't his fault and that was coming in and being seen as Payet's replacement.
His second biggest problem was he was playing for David Moyes the killer of football.
Having said that he didn't help himself as his work rate/fitness wasn't near where it should have been.
His attitude now, considering the scum we have owning us is superb and his work rate is exactly what every players should be and isn't.
I want to be having better players than him in the team and we need that if we're ever to amount to anything, but in the meantime give me a grafter like him.

The Villa fans wanted to keep him and he only returned when they failed to get promoted. Good squad player you cannot deny.

How has he only got 26 caps for Scotland? I can't say I watch them play all that often, but I can't believe they've got that many midfielders better than him.

He's turned himself into the modern day John MONCUR. He's alright, nothing special.

Jon Moncur was good.
I'd put him in the Mattie Holmes bracket

Everyone else was shit and the team/club was a mess during his first 6 months here.
Slagged off un-necessarily by the chairman and shipped out before having a chance to prove himself even in his preferred position.
Didn't help that he came from Hull and a lot of people turned their noses up at the signing. I was actually of the opinion that he was decent and needed time and a better environment. (Happy for anyone to go back and verify that, seen as it's easy for me to sit here and say that now) Happy to see him back here and doing well this season.

Mr. Burns 2:25 Mon Nov 5 Re: Snodgrass
Mate John Moncur was a quality footballer - One of my favourites to have played for us in my lifetime.
I think people only remember the last two years, where he'd come on and get booked - do his little sprint warm ups for a laugh around the corner flag.
Before that, he was a lovely player - Him and Bishop are my two favorite central midfielders to play for us, I'm talking 89-present day. Their range of passing was a delight to watch. Moncur had the added facet that he liked to put his foot in.

That's exactly what I'm referring to. Well not the corner flag stuff. I remember there was a lot of talk how Bishop and Moncur couldn't play together. Moncur changed the way he played a bit and would go flying in. I didn't dislike Moncur as a player.

Was it Moncur on Ince when he came on as a sub, committed an atrocious foul within moments and then just started walking off the pitch even before the ref had shown him the inevitable red card?

It doesn't help that Snodders has got one of the worst sounding names you could get, hardly glamorous is it and just conjures up the image of a workmanlike player from an unattractive northern club so pretty accurate really.
His application is unrivalled and regularly covers more yardage than any other player. Seen and heard him interviewed a few times and comes across very well and can only see that he is a big positive in the dressing room and a real club man. Nothing but admiration for how he has conducted himself and he's now getting his just rewards.
